What is a Circular Innovation Assessment?
See an Example for Advanced Manufacturing
A Circular Innovation Assessment combines Lean Management and Design Thinking concepts to map industrial processes and ideate to create or capture value with Circular Economy tactics.
By conducting a Circular Innovation Assessment, organizations can unlock operational savings and new revenue streams. Earlier this year, Anim8 Collective analyzed and planned a Circularity Pilot program for a national manufacturer specializing in 3D printing. We felt this anonymized report would be helpful to share with any industrial organization seeking to transform their operations for circularity. The report includes recommendations for design and engineering, production lines, software or digital tactics, communications, product sales models, and downstream partnerships. It also includes a full 1-year overview for conducting pilot tests and engaging operator teams across multiple sites.
We began our assessment by building a Circular Value Stream Map, identifying the current state of the organization’s operations, and then ideating a potential future state with Circular Economy principles applied. We identified opportunities to reduce energy and material use, helping the business capture significant cost savings. Maximizing the reuse of resources opens doors to innovative revenue opportunities. Our assessment helped transform waste into value, aligning sustainability with profitability for long-term growth.
